ABSTRACT

This project, design and construction of solar power yam pounding machine was under taken to solve the problem of manual yam pounding which was the only means of processing yam in both Urban and Rural areas. In this project, it is an evident that that sunray or sun-light can efficiently generated electricity when every factor is put into consideration by converting solar energy to electrical energy by using the photovoltaic cells which could be used directly and indirectly. The product also entails the mechanized pounding sector that consist of an electric motor, belt and pulley connection, the bowl for pounding the yam and the pounder or beater which is made of stainless steel that pounds the yam.
